#BringItHome – Oprah

“Every single one of us, has the same power at the polls”

The power of Lady O was real as she set Twitter and the rest of social media alight following her endorsement of Democratic Governor candidate Stacey Abrams in the highly contentious district of Georgia, where voter suppression threatens the administration of a fair electoral result.

This week not only did Oprah knock on a few doors canvassing on Abrams behalf, she also made a barnstorming town hall speech to encourage people to get out and vote next Tuesday.

“For anybody here who has an ancestor who didn’t have the right to vote, and you are choosing not to vote… you are dishonoring your family.

Her words were met with cynicism and contempt by Vice President Mike Pence
who attacked Abrams over her celebrity endorsers, saying the Democrat has been “bankrolled by Hollywood liberals.” and “And I’ve got a message for all of Stacey Abrams’s liberal Hollywood friends: This ain’t Hollywood,” he added. “This is Georgia.

We have only four days to find out whether the Oprah Effect resonates with the voters of Georgia.

Anger Management – Alec Baldwin

If someone would have told me that former too handsome for his own good, actor and new talk show host Alec Baldwin would be arrested for allegedly punching someone in NYC, over of all things a parking space outside his home, I would have taken another sip of my latte to digest the news. Baldwin since released, denies it and we are set for a juicy court showdown.

The altercation resulted in Baldwin’s’opponent’ being taken to hospital for jaw pain and forgive me if my cynical heart doesn’t think, that he was speed dialing his lawyer while still in the ambulance.

Baldwin has previous form for run-ins with the law, among several, a bike related arrest for cycling the wrong way on a one way street and maintaining the transport theme – getting kicked off an American Airlines flight for being angry at a flight attendant who had the ‘nerve’ to ask him to put his mobile phone away.

Seems like being married to a yoga teacher isn’t entirely helping to completely calm his err…’spirited’ soul and he’s been arraigned to appear in court to answer to charges of misdemeanor assault and harassment on November 26th.
