Product Review of the Polaroid Snap Instant Camera
Taking photos is part of my everyday life and aside from my iPhone, I love my trusty Canon IXUS 177, but sometimes I miss the simple days of Polaroid instant cameras
I had an old school Polaroid One Step instant camera that I used to death when I was a kid. I never got over the excitement of hearing the click of the photo being snapped, followed by the magical churning noise of the camera processing it.
Roll forward to last Christmas and my lovely Mum surprised me with a Polaroid Snap, the entry-level model in the Polaroid Snap instant camera range, which allows you to instantly print your pictures directly from the camera in 2 by 3-inch size.
*Note to buyers the paper on which your images are printed isn’t included when you buy your camera, you have to buy it separately – a little add-on prior knowledge for you, so you don’t get caught out as I did, whether your purchasing your camera for yourself or as a gift.
The Snap range comes in four fun colours – blue, red, white, black. It comes without a case, but there is a complimentary one you can purchase from Polaroid called the Polaroid EVA case, which is a sleek, stylish and very durable.
The 10 megapixels digital Polaroid camera/printer incorporates an SD card slot, which enables you to have an extended memory of 32gb memory and an inbuilt lithium rechargeable battery.
The camera body design is simple but distinguished by a rainbow stripe on the right-hand side of the camera. The camera lens is protected a cool snap magnet cover.
At the bottom of the camera is a space for a tripod attachment. On one side as well the slot for the SD card (again, not included when you buy your camera) and a micro USB port. On the other side is the dispensing slot where the photographs are output.
On the top of the camera is a colour selector button, a picture border button, a flip-top viewfinder, 10-second self-timer button and the shutter button to take your photographs.
Special feature alert – If you hold the shutter button for 3 seconds you can take 4 consecutive photographs for a photo-booth effect.
At the back of the body of the camera, is a slide top compartment, where you load your Zink paper on which your photographs are printed.
The Polaroid Snap is user-friendly, prints your photographs on the spot and is a fun, unique way to capture memories. What I also loved the fact that using the SD card allows you to be able to share your photographs with others.
