Travelling as much as I do is in turns exciting, frustrating, challenging and above all things fun. When you’re on the road you treasure exploring new places, meeting new people and my best place to bring together the two is over a great meal.

I love trying new foods. Most of my food adventures go well, but during my last big trip; I found my stomach kicked back, leaving me with poor digestion and an awful ‘ I feel full and uncomfortable” feeling every morning.

My BFF who happens to be a fitness instructor told me to try celery juice. Just like the rest of the world, I’d heard all about the magic of celery juice, but with my lifestyle didn’t have the time to incorporate it, until now.

DAY ONE

After I prepped the celery, I loaded them up in my Ninja Nutri 1000W Personal Blender  and made so much noise in the kitchen, I woke my other half up.

The result a celery smoothie (because I couldn’t find a strainer bag) was hard work, but I ploughed through it. The taste was pretty harsh.

In 30 minutes nature took its course and putting it nicely, without giving all of you too much TMI, an explosion happened in my toilet bowl, that if I hadn’t known was usual for newcomers to the celery juicing crew, during to my reading and Youtube video reviewing.

DAY TWO

I realised after day one that chopping celery can be time-consuming first thing in the morning, so I chopped up my celery the night before, blended it then strained the juice using my Lovetree Nut Milk Bag

The taste was still just ish for me, but much easier to get through than day one.

DAY THREE

I was actually starting to enjoy the taste and looked forward to it, first because after drinking it, I felt hydrated enough and strangely with reduced craving, pushing my morning coffee back to an afternoon one.

DAY FOUR

I woke up feeling great after a really good nights sleep and energetic. I headed to my yoga class and had my celery juice directly after it. For the rest of the day, I felt razor sharp and hydrated.

DAY FIVE

My digestion levelled beautifully, my stomach which was usually bloated in the morning started to be visibly less bloated and I noticed my usual “wake up feeling full” mode was gone.

DAY SIX

Another great day, I felt sharp and alert. I also noticed two spots which I understand is a result of all the toxins being released from my body.

DAY SEVEN

The end but not quite….I loved the boost the celery juicing gave to my body, and in conjunction with the custom keto diet I’m revamping my relationship with food, how it fuels my body and how I can digest it consistently.

SUMMARY

The Celery Juicing craze is something I didn’t expect to like or even stick with. Instead its motivated me to solve not just a short-term problem of poor digestion, but to address how I treat my body and what I put into it, to optimise its performance.
